Sick day

It is heartbreaking when one of my kids is not feeling well. I stayed home to baby the little one (who isn't so little anymore). Two unexpected, wonderful things happened though. My best friend stopped by with a grande soy chai latte from Starbucks and I received a note in the mail from my aunt. It really is the little things. Photo taken on Monday, 1/25/10.

Sleeping Child

It was hard to resist the urge to let this peaceful seven year old continue his slumber. I wanted to snuggle in with him! Photo taken on Friday, January 8, 2010.

The Beginning

After reading a blog by a photographer that challenged readers to "capture your life", I felt compelled to take the challenge. I read the blog post the morning after I found out that I am being laid off of my job after four years. Later, on my way to work, there was an amazing sunrise. I realized that sometimes in the midst of chaos, sadness or pain, there is a beautiful light that brings hope. I had to capture the moment. This photo was taken on Thursday, January 7, 2010.
